My fabulous Mother-in-Law Lorraine crowned as Button Queen

My fabulous Mother-in-Law Lorraine crowned as Button Queen

Button Queen

Kae Watson July 17, 2017

I recently received a phone call recently from a lady who asked if I was the Button Queen.  We had a bit of a chuckle and I responded that yes, she was talking to the Button Queen.  I have since been deposed but fortunately I did not lose my head.

Trying to escape the roaring heat of Arizona, my mother-in-law, Lorraine Watson spent the last three weeks in North Dakota.  At 88, she is still the amazing woman that I first met almost 40 years ago.  From the first time I met her, she was a whirlwind of activity.  She is famous for wonderful parties, both in Arizona and ND.  She was always there when I needed her most.  Twice, she drove over 1000 miles to help take care of new born babies.  I love her dearly.

I had the delight of spending about 10 days with her while she was home.  I asked her if she would mind sorting buttons...  And like a whirlwind, she spend hours each day, sorting through 50,000 buttons.  She had a keen eye for the unusual.  Sometimes, she was lost in thought and other times we chatted the day away.  Our time together was more valuable than a king's randsom.

And so, I was deposed as the Button Queen but I remain a true and loyal subject.
