Mercury (Hermes)

50.00

The Victorian era was a time when workmanship meant something.   The Victorians created wonderful buttons depicting mythological creatures.  According to Wikipedia, Mercury is the god financial gain, commerce, eloquence, travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery and thieves; he is also the guide of souls to the underworld.  Look closely to see the wings on his head. Who wouldn't like this button?  Consider framing as a gift.    Very nice condition but note the odd addition to the back.  This button is large at slightly over 1 5/8" in diameter or 42mm.
